In addition to being the lead singer of Foster the People, Mark Derek Foster is also a songwriter and musician. He was born on February 29, 1984, and is best known as the lead singer of the band.
Foster finally got his big break in 2009 as one of the co-founders of Foster the People with his two friends, Mark Pontius and Cubbie Fink, after years of trying to start a successful band. Sacred Hearts Club, Torches, and Supermodel are the band’s three studio albums to date.
Mark Foster was raised outside of Cleveland, Ohio, outside of Milpitas, California. A member of the Cleveland Orchestra Children’s Chorus, he grew up learning to play several instruments including drums.
He was a member of a number of bands as a youth. In 2001, his high school band participated in a local Battle of the Bands and won first place. He attended Nordonia High School in Macedonia, Ohio, in 2002 and graduated.
Foster acquired actor Maurice Benard’s $2.1 million Hollywood Hills property in 2013. On December 28, 2019, he married actress Julia Garner in New York City.
