James William Hince is an English guitarist, vocalist, and composer who is most recognized for his work as the guitarist for the alternative rock group The Kills. Hince was born in England.

It was with the bands Fiji, Scarfo, and Blyth Power that he got his start in the music industry. Together with the American vocalist Alison Mosshart, he established The Kills in 2000.

In The Kills, Hince is most commonly referred to as “Hotel.” An accident in which Hince’s hand was accidentally shut in a car door caused him to lose the use of one finger on his left hand during the beginning of the 2010s.

Because he couldn’t use it, he had to relearn how to play the guitar.  In 2018, he was a featured artist on the song “Lorelei” by Azealia Banks, which was included on her second studio album titled Fantasea II: The Second Wav.

Hince and her older sister, Sarah, spent their childhood at Woolton Hill, which is located in the English county of Hampshire. He received his education at Goldsmiths, where he concentrated on playwriting.
