Katy Perry, popularly known was born on October 25, 1980, in Santa Barbara, California. She was born as Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson to her pastor mother and father named Mary Christine and Maurice Keith Hudson. Growing up for Katy was not all rosy as her family had financial struggles whereby feeding was difficult sometimes.
Her family also traveled across the country when she was still a child because her parents were setting up churches all over the place. Due to the religious nature of her parents, she attended religious schools and camps. Listening to music for little Katy had to be gospel and not secular.
According to Katy, the only thing she was allowed to listen to were the Sister Act 1 & 2 soundtracks. At age 9, Katy started singing in church which earned her a guitar during her 13th birthday.

With Katy’s passion for music surging as she grew, she recorded her first album Katy Hudson and released it in 2001. The album was a serious failure as it couldn’t even sell 500 copies till the label went of operation due to bankruptcy. As at this time she had completed her General Educational Development.
After the flop of her album, she then headed for Los Angeles where she worked with Glen Ballard but didn’t stay for long with the label. At age 17, she lived on her own where life was tough as she had to sometimes borrow money just to survive.
In 2003, Katy performed under the name Katheryn Perry and later adopted the name, Katy Perry. The following year she signed onto Columbia Records but was not successful there.
An executive of Columbia Records got her signed with Capitol Music Group after he recommended her to Jason Flom. She then recorded her second album with Capitol Music and released the lead single in the spring of 2008.
It was then that the spotlight fell on her causing her to rise to stardom. Katy has since gone to release more hit albums and singles as well as win several awards.
In 2012, Katy released a documentary feature film Katy Perry: Part of Me.

In the summer of 2009, Katy met her ex-husband Russell Brand whiles filming for Get Him to the Greek. The two got married the following year on October 23, 2010 in a colorful Hindu ceremony. She got divorced 14 months after her marriage and later went to be in a relationship with John Mayer.
Later in January 2016, Katy met her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, with whom she has a daughter presently. Her daughter is named Daisy Dove Bloom and was born on August 26, 2020.
