What Did Sheena Greitens Accuse Eric Greitens of?

Sheena Chestnut Greitens is an associate professor at the University of Texas (UT) at Austin’s LBJ School of Public Affairs and a nonresident senior fellow at Brookings’ Center for East Asia Policy Studies.

She is the director of the Asia Policy Program at the University of Texas, which is a collaboration between the Clements Center for National Security and the Strauss Center for International Security and Law.

Her research focuses on East Asia, national security in the United States, and authoritarian politics and foreign policy.

She was married to Missouri Governor Eric Greitens from 2011 to 2020, and they are now divorced. They are the parents of two children. Following the divorce, Sheena alleges that his ex-husband was abusive to her and their children during their marriage.

She claims she was threatened with arrest for child abuse and kidnapping after travelling to her parent’s residence with their children. The latest claims have the potential to have a huge impact on Missouri’s Senate campaign.

The allegations were made public Monday in a fresh affidavit by Sheena Greitens, who requested that their custody case be moved to Texas, where she works, to avoid a greater public spotlight on her children in Missouri, where the former governor is running for Senate.

After Eric Greitens resigned as governor in 2018 amid claims of an adulterous affair and sexual assault, the pair split up.

Eric Greitens bought a gun, kept it hidden from his family, and threatened to kill himself if his then-wife did not provide “particular public political support” before his 2018 resignation, according to the affidavit.

Sheena Greitens has also claimed that her ex-husband became physically abusive towards her and her children.

Prior to our divorce, Eric pushed her down and confiscated her mobile phone, wallet, and keys during an altercation in late April 2018, leaving me unable to call for help or extricate myself and our children from our home,” she stated in the complaint.
