Kyle Long is an American football guard who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He went on to play NCAA football at Oregon after previously playing for Florida State and Saddleback College.
He is the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive end Howie Long and the younger brother of former defensive end Chris Long. The Chicago Bears selected him in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft, and he spent his first seven seasons with them.
Long was named to three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2013 to 2015 with the Bears, as well as one second-team All-Pro selection in 2014. He returns to the Chiefs for the 2021 season after retiring in 2019.
Long was born in the Virginia town of Ivy. In Charlottesville, Virginia, he attended St. Anne’s-Belfield School. He was a baseball and football player. In 2008, he was named to the US Army All-American Bowl.
He was picked in the 23rd round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft by the Chicago White Sox, but he declined to sign and kept his commitment to Florida State University.
