Donald Arthur Mattingly was born on April 20, 1961. He now manages the Miami Marlins of the Major League Baseball (MLB). Known as “The Hit Man” and “Donnie Baseball,” he played with the New York Yankees for 14 seasons before becoming the team’s manager for five.
He married Kim Sexton on September 8, 1979, and the couple is now divorced. Taylor, Preston, and Jordon are the couple’s three children.
Meet Preston Mattingly
Preston Mattingly was born on August 28, 1987. In Beaumont, Texas, Preston attended Lamar University. For the Lamar Cardinals basketball team, an NCAA Division I program in the Southland Conference, he served as a starting guard from 2014 through 2015.
When the Los Angeles Dodgers made their draft selections in 2006, they selected Preston in the supplementary round, and John Sickels’ 2007 Baseball Prospect Book gave him a B- rating.
Just nine days after his father was named Dodgers manager for 2011, Preston was sent to the Cleveland Indians on September 26, 2010. To make matters even worse, he was dismissed by Cleveland and resigned by the Dodgers. The Yankees signed Preston to a minor league contract on January 11th, 2012, but he was released on March 27th by the team.
Meet Taylor Mattingly
Taylor Mattingly was born on March 17, 1985. The New York Yankees selected Taylor in the 42nd round (1,262nd overall) of the 2003 Major League Baseball draft. He appeared in 24 games for the Gulf Coast Yankees of the rookie league before being sidelined by injury. Taylor withdrew from baseball in 2005 after only 58 career at-bats after missing all of 2004 and 2005.
