Who Drafted Keller? Is Brad Keller Injured?

Who Drafted Keller?

Brad Keller was first Drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 8th round of 2013 but again Keller was drafted in the Rule 5 draft by the Cincinnati Reds on December 14, 2017, and was promptly transferred to the Kansas City Royals for monetary considerations.

Is Brad Keller Injured?

Brad Keller had a right lat strain in August and has was ruled out of the entire season.

Keller has been having his worst season as a starter this year, having not pitched since Aug. 26 due to a right lat strain.

The 26-year-old right-hander finished 8-12 with a 5.39 ERA in 133.2 innings pitched in 26 starts. Keller’s last nine starts have him averaging over five innings per start with a 3.42 ERA.

Unfortunately, he won’t be able to maintain or expand on that momentum as the year progresses.

Keller will not pitch for the remainder of the preseason, however, the Royals have begun to put together an offseason plan that includes him starting a build-up in November and gradually increasing his workload during the winter months before ratcheting up in Spring Practice.

Keller had a 29-35 record and a 4.01 ERA with the Royals in four seasons. His SO/9 was a career best 8.1 prior to his injury.

His BB/9 was 4.3, which was unfortunate. Throughout the 2021 campaign, Keller struggled with his leadership and couldn’t manage to get things rolling for long before the wheels fell off again.
