Who Is Lucy Briers’ Father Richard Briers?
Richard David Briers CBE was an English voice actor whose career spanned the mediums of cinema, radio, theatre, and television over the course of 50 years.
He was born on 14 January 1934 and died away on 17 February 2013. Briers was the first cousin once removed from actor Terry-Thomas, who was the son of Joseph Benjamin Briers and Morna Phyllis Richardson.
Briers was also the son of Joseph Benjamin Briers. From the time he was born in 1934 until the end of his life, he held a variety of professions, including those of a bookmaker, estate agent’s clerk, and factory worker.
He was a talented amateur singer who had studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Between the years of 1954 and 1956, Briers was enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), where he found himself in the same class as Peter O’Toole and Albert Finney. I
t was at the Duke of York’s Theatre in 1959 that he made his debut on the West End stage in the production of Gilt and Gingerbread by Lionel Hale.
His daughter, Lucy Briers, claims that dad finally put an end to his smoking habit in 2001, just after a regular chest X-ray warned that, if he continued, he would soon be confined to a wheelchair.
In 2007, he was given a diagnosis of emphysema by his doctor. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease was the cause of his death on February 17, 2013, which occurred at his residence in Bedford Park, London On March 6, 2013, his funeral was held at the local church of St. Michael and All Angels in Chiswick.
