Who will play Kate in the Second Season of Bridgerton?
Kate Sharma will be played by Simone Ashley, who joins the cast.
Many Bridgerton fans have speculated about who would play Kate, an important character in The Viscount Who Loved Me since Netflix announced the series would return for a second season based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels.
Actress Simone Ashley was announced to play the part by the streaming giant in February 2021.
According to a tweet from Netflix, “Get ready to fall in love with Simone Ashley, who will play Kate in Season 2 of Bridgerton.”
As for Anthony Bridgerton, “Kate is a brilliant, opinionated young woman who suffers no fools, including herself.”
Who is Simone Ashley
Simone Ashley is the stage name of Simone Ashwini Pillai, a British actress.
Ashley learned to sing classical music and opera as well as play the piano as a child.
Ashley went to Redroofs Theatre School in Maidenhead for the sixth form, and the family eventually moved to Beaconsfield.
She went on to the Arts Educational School in London to study acting.
Before “Sex Education,” Ashley was best recognized for her role as Olivia Hanan in “Sex Education,” a popular Netflix series.
It was at ArtsEd, a top theatre school in Britain (of which Julie Andrews, the voice of Lady Whistledown on the show), that she honed her skills in musical theater.
After attending shows like Valentino and Chanel during New York Fashion Week, she’s already established herself in the industry.
While on the press tour, she also wore a two-piece Chanel suit and a bright pink Valentino gown to the BAFTAs, which she wore to the premiere of “Bridgerton,” which took place earlier this week.
Ashley said on the “Today” show that she only started watching the show when she was cast as Kate in season two, despite the fact that she had certainly heard of it before.
