How Safe Is Central African Republic?

There have been election-related violence reported. Outside of the capital, there is no law.

The Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) assaults civilians on a daily basis in the CAR’s southeast, particularly in Haut-Mbomou province. Keep an eye out for potential dangers.
Kidnapping and brutal crime are commonplace. Foreigners are a target for kidnappers. Seek security guidance from a specialist.
When carrying significant sums of money, exercise extreme caution. If at all feasible, divide it among your traveling partners.
COVID-19 is still a threat in the CAR.
In the CAR, medical services are scarce. Many drugs are out of stock. You may need to be evacuated if you are critically ill or injured. Check to see if this is covered by your travel insurance.
Yellow fever is very common. It has the potential to be fatal. Before you travel, get immunized. To enter the CAR, you must present a valid immunization certificate.
Malaria, filariasis, and African sleeping sickness are all prevalent insect-borne disorders. Insect repellent should be used. Make sure your lodging is insect-free.
Infectious infections are very common. Hepatitis, typhoid, and cholera are among them. Drink bottled water or boil drinking water. Ice and raw or undercooked meals should be avoided.
Carry identification with you at all times. This can be a copy that has been notarized. If you can’t show them your documents, they may hold you or fine you.
To shoot photographs, you’ll need a government permit. Illegal photographing is prohibited. Military zones, assets, troops, government structures, or mining leases should not be photographed.
To buy or sell diamonds, you’ll need a license. Illegally exporting valuable jewels carries severe consequences.
