On July 2, 2017, Garcia signed as an international free agent with the Houston Astros.

He played for the DSL Astros, Quad Cities River Bandits, Tri-City ValleyCats, and Fayetteville Woodpeckers in the Astros minor league system from 2017 to 2019.

On August 29, 2020, Garcia got called up to the majors for the first time. On September 4, 2020, he made his major league debut against the Los Angeles Angels.

In five games in 2020, Garcia has a 0–1 win-loss record (W–L) and a 2.92 earned run average (ERA) in 12+13 innings thrown (IP) (one start).

Garcia made his playoff debut against the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS). In a bullpen game that the Astros won, he pitched two scoreless innings.

In 2021, Garcia debuted in the major leagues with the Astros. He pitched 155+13 innings in 30 games, starting 28.
