When McDonald’s made the decision to put toys in its Happy Meals, there was no question in anyone’s mind that they did so with full knowledge of the potential success of this move.
After a few decades have passed, some of those toys are now worth an incredible amount of money.
What is the Oldest Happy Meal toy?
The concept of giving children inexpensive toys was not pioneered by the Happy Meal at McDonald’s.
The toys included in the Happy Meal when it was first introduced in 1979 were a McDoodle stencil, a McWrist wallet, an ID bracelet, a puzzle lock, a spinning top, or an eraser shaped like a McDonaldland character.
The “Treat of the Week” campaign, which was offered in Canada before the Happy Meal, featured a different toy that was free upon request each week.
After the Happy Meal was created in 1979, this campaign persisted, and with time, the Happy Meal toys have likewise gotten fancier.
Initially inexpensive things like a Frisbee or ball, they have gradually been supplanted by toys that are more sophisticated. Many of these toys are ties-ins to already-existing TV shows, movies, video games, or toy lines.
Toys sold separately from Happy Meals are intended for children younger than three, while those sold with the meals are geared toward children older than three.
